The computer I have it connected to is an HP 400 G3 SFF. I have 2 new dell U2417H which I am trying to connect to my machine via daisy chained displayport.

This is consistent with several postings about older Dell monitors (for instance ), which suggest that two monitors could only be run via a single USB-C connection at 1080p resolution (as opposed to 1440p) or that power/USB data would not be available if such a setup was used. U2417H, DP 1.2 daisy chain mirrors, but does not extend. However, in an online chat with Dell through the website, the agent suggested that a dock would be needed to achieve this single cable to the laptop solution. According to the Dell website ( ), this monitor should be capable of connecting to a modern Dell laptop such as the Latitude 7400 2-in-1 via a USB-C to USB-C cable to one U2520D, and that monitor should be able to daisy chain with a second U2520D via a DP to DP cable. I saw the new QHD monitors released by Dell this winter included the U2520D. From what I can tell, using mDP shouldn't be an issue because there is no difference other than they are different form factors.Welcome to /r/Dell. I ran a test with some other daisy chaining 1440p monitors I have. Data would only get to the first monitor unless you started daisy chaining data, and each monitor would probably need to have a power cable. DisplayPort 1.4 should be able to handle 3 or 4 1440p60 monitors, depending on color depth.

Is there any issues with using mDP ports instead of full sized form factor displayports? Currently The monitors only came with mDP to DP cables and the new cables are on the way, but are a couple of days away. The agent might have been trying to upsell you. It is an onboard Intel HD 530 which supports multistream via displayport.

I am running a fresh install of windows 10 64 bit (I have also tried it on an identical machine fresh out of the box with the same result). I have done factory resets to both just to be sure.Įven though the display is mirrored on both monitors, windows does not detect more than one monitor attached.
The current configuration of the connections are as follows:ĬPU DP > First Monitor mDP input > First Monitor DP output > Second Monitor mDP inputīoth monitors currently have displayport 1.2 enabled. I have confirmed that this computer supports MST via displayport.
